National Pet Month

 For National Pet Month there is a display in the Library (room F27) of fiction books and there is also a wide selection of information books available to borrow on how to look after your pets: from dogs to iguanas, and from chickens to rabbits!



World Book Night

World Book Night is held on the date of William Shakespeare's death - the 23rd April and is an annual  celebration of books and reading the main aim of which is to encourage everyone to read more. 

 2021 is the 10th anniversary of World Book Night and the events are being led by the lead ambassador Sandi Toksvig and are based around the theme 'books to make you smile'.

St George's Day

April 23rd is St George's Day. St George is the Patron saint of  England and Ethiopia amongst others and died on 23rd April 303. He was a Roman soldier and is probably best known for the legend in which he slays a dragon. Some books featuring dragons:

Earth Day 2021

Earth Day has been held on 22nd April since 1970 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. The theme for Earth Day 2021 is 'Restore our Earth'. Visit earthday.org for more information and details of activities focused on environmental issues the world faces.
