WBD - Celebrating Success

As part of our World Book Day activities we invited students who had successfully completed all the activities in our Invyreads monthly reading/writing challenges to a Book Cafe in the Library. The students were rewarded with a book prize as well as hot chocolate and cakes. They also completed book review sheets about their favourite book which will be displayed in the Library. Many thanks to Mr Stephenson and Mrs Millar for all their help. Congratulations to all the students.

Guess the character

Can you guess the character Mrs McMillan from Modern Languages has dressed up as for World Book Day? She looks amazing! Many thanks for doing this. Looking forward to seeing any other pics of staff dressed up.

Mr Shipton of the P.E. Department shares his love of reading for #invyreads

#invyreads

I am delighted that so many of you have been contributing short stories for this week's #invyreads assignment. There have been some brilliant stories and I have been reading many of them with my new puppy on my knee. She is named Lyra after the lead character in Philip Pullman's 'His dark materials' trilogy.

Keep writing and sharing your stories. We look forward to reading them.

#invyreads Book Recommendation

One of our S2 students highly recommends 'Ready player one' and Ready player two' by Ernest Cline. She says, "I would definitely recommend these books for people who are into science fiction and fantasy and I would also recommend it to all the gamers out there."

Convinced? Want to know a bit more about the story? Watch this book trailer for Ready Player One.
