Why not 'Read something funny' for Red Nose Day. There is a selection of hilarious fiction books on display in the Library to tickle your funny bone! If you want something a little more serious why not look at the books on display which have funny (strange) titles but offer a more thought- provoking read.
National Science and Engineering Week
This year the theme is 'communication'. There is a display in the Library featuring different methods of communication from body language, through sign language to mobile phones, the internet and more. Learn to communicate using Egyptian hieroglyphs or the Morse code or even semaphore. Find out the mechanics behind how you hear and speak. Find out about communication throughout history or just read a poem about 'Communication'.
WORLD BOOK DAY 2011
It's Thursday... it's the 3rd of March... and it is ...World Book Day!! So happy World Book Day to you all.
Remember that there will be 2 competitons to enter at lunchtime - a murder mystery and a word search- and there will be prizes! The English Department is also running a 'design a bookmark competition' and the winning entries will be displayed here in the Library. There are various book displays including one showcasing what I think are the best and worst book jacket designs. If you disagree with my choices or want to add to the displaycollect a card from the Issue Desk and fill out the details and add the book to the display. Check out some of the new books in the Library on the main display and admire my favourite books, including 'The knife of never letting go' by Patrick Ness. This is a powerful and moving novel set in a dystopian landscape.
